Three in the third lead Gaels to comeback 3-1 win over Ontario Tech

KINGSTON, Ont - (January 17, 2020) - On a night the Queen's Gaels (9-11-1) trailed by a goal during the third period, Queen's late game comeback gave them the win over Ontario Tech (8-11-3-1) 3-1.

GAME FLOW
Following the Gaels ninth win of the season last Sunday night, Queen's ended the first period Friday night against the visiting Ridgebacks tied 0-0. The Gaels entered play Friday night just two points behind Ontario Tech in the standings for fifth in the OUA East.

Midway through the second period, Ridgebacks Josh Maguire would give Ontario Tech the lead scoring on a Ridgebacks powerplay putting the Gaels behind 1-0 after forty minutes.

Nearing the midway point of the third period the Gaels continued to put on the offensive pressure. With a partial break Alex Row broke free for a breakaway but was hauled down. He was awarded a penalty shot on the play but was subsequently stopped by Ridgebacks goaltender Michael Bullion.

Minutes later Patrick Sanvido gave the Gaels life and would spark a comeback attempt as his point shot was deflected in front by none other than Row tying things up during the third period 1-1.

Ryan Cranford followed by scoring his fifth assist of the season on a set up from Duncan Campbell to give the Gaels their first lead of the game with less than five minutes left in the game.

An empty net goal from Graeme Brown would seal the win for Queen's in a thrilling 3-1 comeback over the Ridgebacks at the Memorial Centre.

Following tonight's win, the Gaels currently sit tied for fifth place in OUA East.
