KINGSTON, Ont. (Sept 7, 2019) - The Queen's men's rugby team opened their 2019 season with an 89-5 victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues at Nixon Field.
GAME FLOW
Josh Engelbrecht opened the scoring on a short run to give the Gaels a quick 5-0 lead. Queen's scored to consectuive tries before Toronto answered back in the 21st minute.
Faiyaz Loklhandwala scored the Varsity Blues lone try of the match to close the gap to 19-5.
The Gaels closed out the first half scoring four straight unanswered tries for a 47-5 lead over Toronto.
John Varriano scored in the 41st minute to kick off the second half for Queen's.
Sam Ibbotson scored two consecutive tries making powerful long runs through the Varsity Blues defence to push the lead to 73-5.
Stefan Ziuliani and Connor King scored two quick tries to close out the match and give the Gaels a 89-5 victory.
