OTTAWA (September 7, 2019) - The Queen's Gaels (0-3) dropped another tough contest this time in Ottawa to the Ottawa Gee-Gees (1-1) 44-27 despite going toe-to-toe with the Gee-Gees throughout the game.
GAME FLOW
In the opening quarter, the Gaels defence set the table as 
Will Bannatyne intercepted a Ben Maracle pass attempt and returned it six yards to the Ottawa 24. 
James Keenan was able to find his way into the endzone from 10 yards out to give the Gaels a 7-0 lead.
After a missed field-goal by the Gaels, the Gee-Gees closed out the frame with a touchdown of their own as Maracle ran in a seven-yard score to even things up 7-7.
Rasheed Tucker ran the ball well for the Gaels all day and showed his skills off early in the second with a 30-yard run that set up a 44-yard field goal from Liberatore to put Queen's ahead 10-7.
With the Gaels ahead 13-7 they surrendered a safety and the Gee-Gees closed out the half with another major to take a 16-13 lead.
Another early score in the third put Ottawa ahead 23-13.
Ryan Licandro checked in at quarterback for the Gaels in the second half and they were able to close the gap. A 38-yard pass to 
Richard Burton set up a short mid-field toss to 
Marko Xidos for a touchdown to bring Queen's tow within three at 23-20 for Ottawa.
The Gee-Gees quickly responded on the next drive as Carter Matheson hauled in an 11-yard score to restore the Ottawa 10 point cushion.
In the fourth 
Zack Kealey got the Gaels fired up with an interception early in the frame. That set up a 13-yard Tucker touchdown as the Gaels pulled to within three once more.
The Gee-Gees attack stayed strong as they scored once again to go ahead 10 points on the Gaels. The Gaels had a last-ditch effort to close the gap but a fumble was snatched up by Cody Cranston and returned 61-yards for a touchdown to put the game out of reach 44-27.
