Queen's comes up short in 4-1 loss to Ryerson to open 2019 season

KINGSTON, Ont. (August 31, 2019) – The Queen's Gaels (0-1-0) Gaels fall to the No. 6 Ryerson Rams (1-0-0) in a 4-1 loss on Saturday afternoon at Richardson Stadium in front of 250 fans in attendance. 
 
GAME FLOW
The Rams started the game placing pressure on the Gaels defence, scoring two quick goals within the first 15 minutes.

Abdallah El-Chanti opened the scoring in the sixth minute and Mansoor Afzaly converted a penalty kick from the spot in the 12th minute to give the Rams a 2-1 lead. 

Queen's found their response in the 30th minute as Jason Cho found the back of the net on a pass from Nick Allie Day, the first goal of the rookie's career for the Gaels.

The second half opened as a defensive struggle for both teams. The score remained 2-1, until Luca Di Marco scored in the 86th minute of the match. Gaels keeper Alex Dimock was busy in goal throughout the game making four saves and faced seven shots on goal. 

Di Marco continued his strong play assisting on El-Chanti's second goal of the game in the 89th to secure the victory for the Rams  4-1.
