GAME FLOW
The high-flying Ravens arrived in Kingston tied for 1st in the OUA standings, having won nine of their last 10 games. That being said, the Gaels held their own against the Ravens top-ranked offence in the first quarter, surrendering just 18 points but finding themselves trailing the Ravens by seven at 18-11. After shooting only 25% from the field in the opening quarter, the Gaels looked to be more effective finishing the ball in the second frame.
Both offences sputtered over the first half of the second quarter, putting up just eight combined points and the Ravens holding an 11-point lead. In the back end of the second quarter, things opened up offensively, but the Gaels were only just able to keep pace with the Ravens potent scoring, still finding themselves down 11 points with the score at 37-25 for Carleton.
Leading the way for the Gaels in the first half was
Quinton Gray with seven points, while Munis Tutu led the Ravens with 10 points.
In the second half, the Gaels did their best to keep pace with the top-rated Ravens, but key offensive rebounds and second-chance points prevented the Gaels from ever getting within striking distance. Carleton would cruise for a convincing 20-point victory by a score of 81-61, their 20th victory of the season.
Leading the way for the Gaels in scoring was
Jaz Bains with 17 points, while the Ravens were led by Munis Tutu with 22 points. The Ravens out-rebounded the Gaels 46-32, and shot almost 43% from the field in comparison to the Gaels 37%.
OUA PLAYOFFS
The Gaels will officially finish fifth in the OUA East as both Laurentian and Ottawa hold tie-breakers over the Gaels. Queen's will visit either the Voyageurs or Gee-Gees in the OUA playoffs.
