OTTAWA (February 23, 2019) - The fifth-seeded Queen's Gaels saw their season come to an end as the No.1 and top-seeded Carleton Ravens knocked the Gaels out with an 80-63 final.
GAME FLOW
A quick start for the Ravens saw them open up a 7-2 lead but a
Quinton Gray layup cut the deficit to three in the early stages. Carleton then went on a 6-0 run before a pair of
Harry Range free-throws made the score 13-6 Carleton. The Ravens closed the frame with a 21-13 lead on the Gaels.
Carleton again came out swinging knocking down back-to-back triples to extend their lead to 14.
Tanner Graham was able to respond with a bucket from beyond the arc of his own but Troy Reid-Knight came down the court and nailed another three-ball for the home side. Carleton finished the half with a 41-28 lead on the Gaels. Isiah Osborne had 14 first-half points for the Ravens who shot 45.9% while
Jaz Bains paced the Gaels with eight points. As a team, Queen's shot just 30.3% in the half.
The Gaels came out in the second half strong with quick buckets form both
Jesse Graham and Bains to cut the Ravens lead down to just nine. The Ravens scored 10 of the next 12 points however to lead 51-34. The Gaels struggled to keep pace with the high-flying Ravens and headed to the final quarter down 63-43.
The Gaels tried to chip away at the deficit but it turned out to be too little too late as the Ravens kept the pressure on Queen's. The Gaels outscored Carleton 20-17 in the frame but it wasn't enough as they fell 80-63 to close out their season.
