Gaels fall on the road against Western

LONDON, Ont. (November 15, 2019) - The No.6 Queen's Gaels (5-2) lose a tough contest to the Western Mustangs (6-1) with a final score of 87-64. 

GAME FLOW
It was Western who had momentum early on as they opened up a five point lead in the first quarter as Maddy Horst led the Mustangs offensively. 

From here on the Gaels were playing catch up, with Michelle Istead scoring 13 of her 16 points of the night in the first half. Julia Chadwick, with her contribution eight total rebounds in the game, aided Queens defensive efforts as they were able to stay within 10 points of the Mustangs until half. 

The third quarter saw the Mustangs further consolidate their lead by shutting down the Gaels offensive momentum with big blocks from Elizabeth Leblanc and Rachel Fradgley. Queens was also able to hold Western to only 17 with help from Emma Ritcey as she had two defensive rebounds and one steal in the quarter. With limited scoring opportunities coming from both sides of the court which resulted in low scoring, moving into the fourth quarter the score was 60-47 for the Mustangs.  

It was a similar play from both Western and Queens in the fourth quarter as the game closed with a 87-64 victory for Mustangs.
