The Queen's Cycling team is at the top of the podium for the second straight season after winning the 2019 University Cup after the fourth race of the season.
Queen's finished in first place overall with 1,724 total points which was nearly 700 ahead of second place Toronto who tallied only 1,077 points. The Guelph Gryphons rounded out the podium finishers with 518 points for third place.
The individual standings were also reflective of the tremendous finishes of the Queen's team. In the men's A category the Gaels swept the podium with
Andrew Jonker, Ryan Jonker and Matt Birchard finishing in places one through three respectively. Andrew was able to win three of the four events until his brother Ryan took the final Hardwood event to prevent him from claiming four first place finishes.
In the women's A Kaitlyn Shikaze was the top overall finisher with 175 total points thanks to a first place finish at the Mansfield race. Hanna Girndt was also a podium finisher with a third place finish to give the Gaels two more athletes in the top three.
The women's and men's B divisions also saw strong performances from the Gaels as Erika Rankin and Natalie Botzang finished one-two in the women's B and Eric Yuyitung was the top finisher in the men's B taking all four first place finishes.
