Gaels Leave Ottawa with 2-0 loss to No.3 Carleton, look to rebound at Trent Saturday

OTTAWA (October 3, 2019) – The Queen's Gaels (3-6-1) put forth a great defensive effort through 70 plus minutes but it wasn't enough as they fell to the undefeated No.3 Carleton Ravens (10-0-0) 2-0 at MNP Park.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels came into Ottawa with momentum after winning back-to-back games for the first time this season last weekend in Kingston.

They would take on a No 3. Carleton team that hasn't lost a match yet this season and have only allowed two goals all season and just one at home this year.

The first half saw the Gaels defence strive as after 45 minutes, the scoreboard hadn't changed since the start of the half remaining a 0-0 tie going into halftime. A Gaels defence which was able to shutout the Carleton offence which currently sits on top of the OUA with 27 goals in ten games.

The second half ended with two late goals by the Ravens to take a 2-0 lead over the Gaels and ultimately send Queen's back to Kingston with their sixth loss of the season.

The Gaels defence showed much to be optimistic about following the loss to Carleton. Queen's currently sits in the middle of the East standings continuing to fight for a playoff spot as the end of the month.

Queen's has given the top team in the OUA East a pair of tough matches to date after allowing just one Carleton goal in 90 minutes in Kingston and holding the Ravens to zero goals through 70 minutes this afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
0 - Queen's held a Carleton team which sits in first place in the OUA with over 25 goals to 0 in the first half.
10 - Points for Queen's, Nipissing and Ontario Tech this season with both opponents holding two games over the Gaels
UP NEXT
The Gaels attempt to bounce back after a loss in Ottawa when they travel to Peterborough Saturday, October 5th at 3:15 PM taking on a team that hasn't won a game yet this season, the Trent Excalibur.
