TORONTO (October 26, 2019) - It was a tough start for the defending OUA champion Queen's Gaels (0-1) as they ran into a strong York Lions (1-0) team in the season opener falling 3-1 at the Tait Mckenzie Athletic Centre.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels knew they had a hard fight ahead of them today against the York Lions. The Lions set the tone early, taking the opening set 25-22. The Gaels fought for every block and point in the second set, but found themselves in a hole after the Lions took the second set 25-23.
Several big blocks opened up the third set. With Queen's looking to extend the match for the comeback, the Gaels were able to fend off a late Lions attack and take the third set 25-20.
The Gaels ultimately couldn't keep the Lions offence at bay, with York taking the fourth set 25-21 and the match 3-1.

Erik Siksna who led the Gaels with a total of fifteen points scoring 10 kills and four aces with a pair of assisted blocks.
Adam Boljkovac followed Siksna with 14 total points.
Zane Grossinger led the defence, returning a total of six digs against the Lions serves and finished with 25 assists.
