Gaels stay undefeated, defeat Paladins 5-0 on Seniors Day

KINGSTON, Ont. (October 13th, 2019) – The No.7 Queen's Gaels (10-0-2) controlled the ball for most of the opening half and continued throughout the second shutting out the RMC Paladins (0-10-0) 5-0 Sunday afternoon.

SENIOR DAY
The Gaels honoured their graduating seniors on Sunday afternoon in the final home game at Richardson Stadium for regular season play. Lidia Bradau, Alanna Richardson and Erin Cliffe were recognized prior to kick-off.

GAME FLOW

The Gaels were looking to complete an undefeated season at home finishing 6-0-1 at Richardson Stadium and Tindall Field. Christie Gray would open up the scoring for Queen's scoring in the 15th minute of play giving the Gaels a 1-0 lead.

The Gaels offence dominated the Paladins defence during the first half keeping the ball in RMC's end for the majority of the opening 45 minutes as the Tricolour are looking to chase down the goal differential-difference that separates them from the Ottawa Gee-Gees for the tie-breaking overall top spot in the OUA East.

The second half dominance would continue for the Gaels offence pressuring the Paladins with shots and not giving RMC any opportunities to attempt any shots of their own.

It began with an early goal one minute into the second half with an unassisted strike by Jenna Leslie.  The third score of the day would follow as Cecilia Way fed a pass through the defence to Rebecca Kim with the third goal of the game.

Leading scorer for the Gaels Cecilia Way earned her tenth of the year with Leslie adding her second goal of the afternoon giving the Gaels 5-0 lead en route to Queen's tenth win of the season.

The Gaels finished the season a perfect 6-0-1 at Richardson Stadium/Tindall Field and will return home for the OUA playoffs.
