Gaels finish with Northern split after loss to Nipissing

NORTH BAY, Ont. (January 5, 2019) - The Queen's Gaels (8-4) dropped a 61-48 decision to the Nipissing Lakers (3-9) to finish their northern road trip with a split at 1-1.

GAME FLOW
In the opening frame, Queen's executed on both ends as they were able to start off on an 11-2 run and close the first out with a 22-16 lead.

From there the offence went cold as the Tricolour could only muster eight second-quarter points while Nipissing managed 16 including a final second buzzer beater to take a 32-30 lead into halftime on Queen's.

After opening up a 41-38 lead thanks to a Claire Litchfield three-pointer the Gaels struggled for the remaining 3:30 and found themselves down 47-42 heading into the final frame.

The home side once again put the pressure on Queen's and held on for a 61-48 win.
