KINGSTON, Ont. (January 11, 2019) – The Queen's Women's Basketball Team (8-5) fell to the Ryerson Rams (11-2) 79-58 on Friday night at the ARC – Main Gym.

The high-powered Rams offence got off to a quick start against the Gaels, jumping out on a 9-2 run and opening up a 10-point-lead by the end of the 1
st quarter. The Rams were also stout on the defensive end, as the Gaels had as many turnovers as they did points (7), and shot only 3-16 from the field in the opening frame.
The Gaels difficulty continued in the second
quarter as the Rams extended the lead to 23 points at 38-15. The Gaels also continued to struggle with ball security (14 turnovers in the half) and shooting the ball (shooting only 20.7% from the field). Leading the Gaels offensively in the half was
Marianne Alarie with five points, while Ryerson's Cara Tiemens had 11 points.
In the second half, the Gaels kept fighting but struggled to close the advantage. The Gaels did manage to win the final quarter 24-20, but it was too little, too late, as the Rams cruised away to a 79-58 victory. Leading the way for the Gaels was
Emma Weltz with 11 points on 5-7 shooting, while Sofia Paska led all Rams scorers with 22 points.
