NORTH BAY, Ont. (January 5, 2019) - The Queen's Gaels (8-4) used a strong second half of offence to down the Nipissing Lakers (2-10) 84-63 and complete a sweep of their Northern Ontario weekend road trip.
NORTHERN SWEEP
The Gaels started 2019 with a Northern sweep taking down both Laurentian and Nipissing on the road.
GAME FLOW
After being down 5-2 in the opening minutes, the Gaels went on a 20-2 run from there with
Quinton Gray picking up nine of the 20 Gaels points. After the first quarter, Queen's held a 22-14 lead over Nipissing.
The Lakers chipped away at the Gaels lead outscoring Queen's 15-10 in a low scoring second, and the Gaels lead was just 32-29 at halftime.
The second half saw the Gaels explode offensively. The Tricolour posted 29 points in the third quarter and another 23 in the fourth to bring their total to 84 on the night in a comfortable 84-63 win.
Jaz Bains finished with a double-double scoring a game-high 22 points while adding 10 assists.
Tanner Graham had 21 points with six rebounds and five assists while Gray had 19 points.
