KINGSTON, Ont. (January 19, 2019) - The Queen's Gaels (11-7-0) picked up their second win in as many nights with a 2-1 victory over the Windsor Lancers (0-14-2-1).
GAME FLOW
Coming off of a big upset over the No.6 ranked Western Mustangs on Friday night, the Gaels offence stayed hot early on Saturday against the Windsor Lancers.
Nearing the midway point of a scoreless game,
Alex Maw made a beautiful play in all alone on Windsor goaltender Molly Jenkins lifting the puck up high past the goaltender to put the Gaels in front 1-0. Under a minute later with the Gaels on the power-play they struck again.
A
Bryce Desa point shot found it's way through a screen and past Jenkins to give the Gaels a nice 2-0 cushion in the opening period.
In the waning seconds of the opening period, Meredith Goldhawk beat
Makenzy Arsenault on the power-play to make it a 2-1 game.
The final two periods turned the game into a back-and-forth battle with the two goaltenders. Arsenault made 11 saves in the second period while Jenkins stopped four to keep the game scoreless after 40 minutes.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the third period either and the Gaels skated away with a 2-1 win.
