TORONTO (January 11, 2019) - The Queen's Gaels (9-6-0-0) picked up a road victory 4-3 on Friday night over the Ryerson Rams (7-5-2-1) in OUA women's hockey action.
GAME FLOW
The early stages in Toronto saw both teams find their way to the penalty box on multiple occasions. The Gaels penalty kill unit successfully killed off three early penalties to keep the game scoreless.
In the late stages of the period the Gaels power play got their chance and with a five-on-three,
Hannah De Coutere picked an assist after her point shot was deflected in for a goal by
Addi Halladay.
Gaels starting goaltender
Stephanie Pascal held the Gaels in the game early turning aside 13 first period shots and it was a 1-0 Gaels lead after 20 minutes.
The second period saw the Gaels jump out to a 2-0 lead after a great individual play from
Hailey Wilson. The veteran took the puck out of the corner, spinning towards the net and went short side top shelf for the goal.
After the Rams scored a pair just 41 seconds apart the two teams were tied at 2-2 heading to the third.
Late in the frame, a bounce off the side net went right to
Quinn Johnston who circled around and deposited her second of the season. The Gaels added an empty netter while the Rams scored a late power play marker to close out the score at 4-3 for the Tricolour.
