KINGSTON, Ont. (September 12
th, 2018) – The Queen's men's soccer team (4-1-0) thoroughly outplayed the RMC Paladins (2-2-1) en route to a 5-0 victory.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels came roaring out of the gates, putting the Paladins under pressure almost immediately. Queen's broke the deadlock only five minutes into the match, as first year midfielder
Nick Alie Day capitalized on the Paladins sloppy defending.
RMC's best chance to get themselves back in the match came just short of the 20 minute mark, the Paladins had two corner kicks in quick succession but were unable to capitalize.
In the 35
th minute the Gaels doubled the advantage, this time assisted by
Nick Alie Day and finished by
Brevin MacKay.
In the 42
nd minute, the Gaels put the match further out of reach when 5
th year forward
Antoine Noel glanced home a header off a corner kick.
The Gaels consolidated their advantage in the second half adding goals from
Andrew Kim and
Junior Kwame Addai.

Post-match, head coach
Christian Hoefler explained the importance of his early tactical adjustments: "They're (RMC) usually very organized defensively…we saw they were pushing a bit high up the pitch and wanted to take advantage of the space in behind, looking for some creation from our midfield and attacking three."
