Gaels impress for Canada at U23 World Championship

POZNAN, Pol. - Three Queen's rowers recently competed and represented Canada at the U23 World Rowing Championships in Poznan, Poland.
 
Alex Bernst (Ottawa, Ont.), won the lightweight men's double C final with Vlad Timinsky (Kingston Rowing Club) to finish 13th overall. Louise Munro (Ottawa, Ont.) placed 5th in the women's quad A final and Gavin Stone (Brampton, Ont.) placed 5th in the men's eight A final.
 
GAELS RESULTS
 
Alex Bernst finished with a time of 7:00:00 winning his lightweight men's double C final, less than one second quicker than the 2nd place Hungarians. However, his time placed him 13th overall in what was Bernst's international rowing debut.
 
Louise Munro finished 5th in the women's quadruple sculls A final with a time of 6:53.53. Just over two seconds behind 4th place Germany.
 
Gavin Stone and his men's eight team finished 5th in the A final with a time of 5:27.99. It was a stellar outing for the team who had to survive through repechage in order to qualify for the final.
