KINGSTON, Ont. (August 17, 2018) - Despite rainy and windy conditions, the Gaels women's soccer team came away with a 2-1 victory against the Alberta Pandas in exhibition play.
The early morning game, which was held at Miklas-McCarney Field, was the Gaels first taste of action in 2018 and was the first of three preseason games that will be played over the upcoming days.
GAME FLOW
The first half was heavily dominated by the Pandas. Brooke Lang, who was the 2017 Canada West Rookie of the Year, opened the scoring in the 12
th minute. Despite the persistent pressure on the Queen's defence, it would be the only time that Alberta would find the back of the net.
The Gaels had a perfect start to the second half as
Alexandra Doane scored an early goal in the 47
th minute to tie the game. The score would remain tied until stoppage time where Doane would strike again, burying the game-winner in the 91
st minute.
KEY STATS
The Gaels were outshot 10-5 throughout the game. Anna Dunn had five shots on goal for Alberta single-handedly matching Queen's shot total.
Alexa MacLatchy-Gaudet made a game-high five saves, meanwhile teammate
Anna Stephenson had three saves of her own.

The Gaels will take on McGill on Saturday as they host the Old Four Tournament. Game time is set for 1pm at Miklas-McCarney Field.
