WINDSOR, Ont. (November 3rd, 2018) – The Queen's Women's Basketball Team (2-1) fell to the Windsor Lancers (3-1) 88-79 on Saturday night at St. Denis Centre.
GAME FLOW
It was a back and forth affair for the most of the first half as the Gaels and the Lancers exchanged extended scoring runs with the halftime score 55-52 for the Gaels.
The Gaels started strong in the second half jumping out to a 63-56 lead before the Lancers roared back taking the lead at 72-70 with just moments remaining in the 3rd quarter.
In the 4th
it was all Windsor, as they outscored the Gaels 16-9 in what was an extremely low-scoring and defensive final quarter. As the clock ran out, the final score was 88-79 in favour of the Lancers.
Windsor shot an impressive 47.9% from the field while the Gaels shot 40.9%. Importantly, the Lancers out rebounded the Gaels by 7 and had a 22-point contribution from their bench while the Gaels bench managed only 9 points.
Marianne Allaire had 34 points for the Gaels, but only two other Gaels reached double figures.
