Women's basketball victorious in 10-point win over Western

| By:
BOX SCORE LONDON, Ont. (November 2, 2018) - The Queen's women's basketball team (2-0) came away with a 58-48 over the Western Mustangs (1-2). The Gaels were in action earlier than normal as Western was hosting a school day game for elementary schools around the London region. However, the 1:30pm start played no factor as the Gaels outplayed the Mustangs to pick up their second consecutive win to start the season.

GAME FLOW
It was a back and forth game to begin the first quarter as the Gaels and Mustangs traded baskets. However, they were able to pull ahead into halftime lead by Maddie Morris' 10 first half points.

Morris was on fire in the first half as she hit both of her three-point attempts to go along with four free throws. Marianne Alarie chipped in with eight first half points meanwhile Emma Weltz had seven.

Western came out of the halftime break on a mission as they stormed back to tie the game 33-33. However, Emma Ritcey hit a timely three to pull the Gaels ahead and keep momentum on their side.

The Gaels were able to restore some of their lead as they bumped up their advantage to 43-35 at the end of the third quarter.

Veronika Lavergne took over in the fourth quarter as her eight points helped the Gaels secure the win in enemy territory.
