Deep-range shooting leads Gaels over Warriors

KINGSTON, Ont. (November 17th, 2018) – The Queen's Women's Basketball Team (6-1) defeated the Waterloo Warriors (1-7) 76-52 on Saturday night at the ARC – Main Gym.

AMP DAY
Saturday's games were a part of 'Super Saturday' in support of AMP, the Austism Mentorship Program. A.M.P. pairs up Queen's student-athletes with children aged 6-18 in the Kingston community with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Founded in 2017, by former Gaels Football player, Emilio Frometa, the Autism Mentorship Program facilitates pairings with the goal of improving motor-skills for the children.

The program currently has over 40 pairings and looks forward to continuing its growth. A.M.P. was set up in the Alumni Lounge for much of the day.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels stormed out to a 22-13 lead in the first quarter, despite Waterloo's high-pressure defensive tactics, forcing 7 Gaels turnovers. A large part of the Gaels' success in the first quarter came from behind the arc, where they shot 4 for 7 from 3-point land.

The Gaels were led in the first half by Marianne Alarie with 17 points, Natalie Froese with 6 points and Maddie Morris with 6 points and 7 boards.
