KINGSTON, Ont. (November 17th, 2018) – The Queen's Men's Basketball Team (4-3) defeated the Waterloo Warriors (1-7) 83 to 75 on Saturday night at the ARC – Main Gym.
AMP DAY
Saturday's games were a part of 'Super Saturday' in support of AMP, the Austism Mentorship Program. A.M.P. pairs up Queen's student-athletes with children aged 6-18 in the Kingston community with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Founded in 2017, by former Gaels Football player, Emilio Frometa, the Autism Mentorship Program facilitates pairings with the goal of improving motor-skills for the children.
The program currently has over 40 pairings and looks forward to continuing its growth. A.M.P. was set up in the Alumni Lounge for much of the day.
GAME FLOW
It was a tightly contested 1
stquarter between the Gaels and the Warriors, with the Warriors edging the home team 21 to 19 and shooting an impressive 64% from the field.
Tanner Graham led the Gaels in the 1
stwith 11 points.
In the 2
ndquarter, the Warriors continued to score the ball very efficiently, shooting exactly 50% from the floor and taking a 6-point lead to the half at 40 to 34. The Warriors were led in the half by Jeff Baradziej and Nedim Hodzic who each had 12 points. The Warriors also generated 11 second chance points in the half.
The Gaels had a big 3
rdquarter, putting up 26 points and taking a 60 to 57 lead. The Gaels were led in the quarter by
Jaz Bains with 10 points.
The 4
thquarter came right down to the wire, as both teams found themselves tied up at 75 with just 1:20 left to play. With 1:06 remaining,
Tanner Graham hit a 3-pointer as the shot clock was about to expire and the Gaels took a lead they would never relinquish, winning the game 83 to 75.
The Gaels won the game despite being far less efficient from the field, shooting just 39% in comparison to Waterloo's 48%. Conversely, the Gaels took great care of the rock, turning it over only 4 times all game and scoring 15 points off Waterloo turnovers.

Tanner Graham with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
