KINGSTON, Ont. (October 26, 2018) - The Queen's Gaels (3-0-2-0) shut out the York Lions (1-0-1-0) 1-0 on Friday night in OUA women's hockey action from the Kingston Memorial Centre.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels were the first team to score in the opening period as
Caroline DeBruin broke up the ice and got the puck to
Hailey Wilson on a three-on-two rush. Wilson's shot was stopped by
Katrina Manoukarakis was able to pot the rebound to the right of the York goaltender giving the Gaels an early 1-0 lead.
From there the story turned to the two goaltenders. For Queen's,
Makenzy Arsenault turned aside six first period, eight second period and seven third period shots for 21 saves.
Meanwhile, York goaltender Lauren Dubie held the Queen's offence in check with 18 saves on the evening.
Despite late pressure from York, the Gaels hung on for a 1-0 shutout victory.
ARSENAULT SHUTS THE DOOR
Arsenault picked up her first shutout of the season and second in her career on Friday night. She sees her stats improve to a 1.62 GAA and 0.926 SV%.
