Gaels rebound with 3-1 win over No.10 Brock

KINGSTON, Ont. (October 20, 2018) – The No.5 Queen's Gaels (4-1-0) bested the No.10 Brock Badgers (4-1-0) by a score of 3-1 on Saturday night in men's OUA hockey action.

GAME FLOW
The Badgers opened the scoring with a little more than five minutes left to play in the first period on a quick end-to-end passing play as a Brock powerplay expired. The goal came courtesy of Kitimat, BC native Skylar Pacheco.  At the end of the 1st period the Badgers led the Gaels 1-0, also outshooting the Gaels 15 to 7.

Only moments into the second period, Brock took a major penalty for kneeing and the Gaels received a five-minute power play as a result. The Gaels would take advantage, first leveling the score at 1-1 through Nevin Guy.  Less than a minute later, the Gaels would score again on the power play and take the lead on a slap shot from Mason Kohn, assisted by Nevin Guy (his second point of the night).

Just after Brock's 5-minute major had ended, the Gaels would add a third goal on a nice passing play by Duncan Campbell to Luke Bertolucci, Luke's first of the season. By the halfway mark of the 2nd period, the Gaels had erased the first period deficit and led the game 3-1, an advantage they would take into the second intermission.

In the third period, Gaels goaltender and Detroit Red Wings prospect Justin Fazio stood tall, preventing the Badgers from getting back in to the game and stopping all 18 shots he faced in the 3rd and 44 of 45 of the night.

The Gaels would win 3-1, handing the Badgers their first loss of the season and bouncing back from a disappointing loss only a night ago.
