KINGSTON, Ont. (October 18, 2018) – The Queen's women's basketball team capped off their lengthy preseason schedule with an 89-66 win over the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets are a NCAA Division III team hailing from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels got off to a good start as they held Waynesburg to just 25% shooting in the first quarter.
Natalie Froese and
Abbey Hetherington both had five points in the opening quarter to lead the Gaels to a 22-11 lead at the first break.
The second quarter was the
Marianne Alarie show as she posted nine points on 3-3 shooting and two three pointers. The Gaels held a 45-30 lead at halftime.
The Yellow Jackets picked up their level of play to start the second half as they shot over 50% in the third quarter. However, they coughed up the ball nine times which allowed the Gaels to outscore Waynesburg 24-21 in the frame.
The Gaels would cruise through the fourth quarter to secure the 33-point win.
