TORONTO (October 26th, 2018) – The Queen's Gaels (1-0) defeated the York Lions (0-1) 66-57 on Friday Night at Tait McKenzie Centre to open their OUA women's basketball season.
GAME FLOW
Queen's struggled to score early in the opening quarter but would recover, getting off to a hot start in the 2nd and taking a 32-30 lead to the half.
York started the third quarter on a strong scoring run, opening up a 9-point lead (their largest of the game). Queen's was unfazed however and would roar back, evening the score at 46 as they approached the end of the penultimate quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Queen's took control as they outscored the Lions by nine points on their way to a convincing 66-57 victory, getting their OUA season off to a positive start.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR THE VET
It was an impressive performance from veteran guard
Marianne Alarie who put up 26 points and added 12 rebounds and another four assists.
