KINGSTON, Ont. (August 19, 2017) - The Queen's men's basketball team got an early start to their exhibition schedule as they welcomed the Canisius Golden Griffins from the NCAA to Kingston.
Quinton Gray paced the Gaels with his 17 points while adding five rebounds and three assists. Not far behind was another Gaels newcomer, Jaz Bains who had 15 points.
Returning to action after missing 2016-17 due to injury
Mike Shoveller had a strong game for the Gaels as well putting down 15 points on 7-13 shooting while hauling in seven boards.
Queen's held the lead for the majority of the opening half against their NCAA opponents but the Golden Griffins made a strong second half push to take control. Jermaine Crumpton had 11 of his 18 points in the second half as Canisius took the victory 87-71.
