Singh breaks Gaels all-time scoring record in loss to Toronto

TORONTO (February 4, 2016) - Sukhpreet Singh (Toronto) finished with 21 points in the Gaels (6-10) 85-77 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues (11-5) and passed Mitch Leger's Queen's men's basketball all-time scoring record.

Leger's all-time record for points in a career by a Gael was 1,337 and Singh needed just 14 points to pass the mark. Now with a total of 1,345 in his five-year career as a Gael, the historic achievement is now his alone to push further in his final three games this season.

GAME FLOW
Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) aided in the attack posting a double-double for the Gaels with 22 points and 12 rebounds while his brother Jesse Graham (Kingston, Ont.) added 15 points of his own.

The Gaels held a 23-20 lead after the opening quarter but scored just 11 points to the Varsity Blues 19 in the second frame and trailed at half by five. Toronto then stretched their lead to as many as 14 in the third quarter. The Gaels managed to get within striking distance but could not pull off the comeback in the late stages.

Toronto took advantage of 10 Gaels turnovers on the night, turning them into 13 points while turning the ball over only three times themselves.

A 29 point, seven rebound performance from Johnson of the Varsity Blues lead all scorers.
