ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (February 25, 2017) - The Queen's Gaels (10-8) took five sets but came away with a win 3-2 as they visited the Brock Badgers (3-14) on Saturday night in OUA men's volleyball action.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels saw a true team effort in their five set win over Brock. Â Five different players registered double-digit point totals in the win and after committing 10 attack errors in the opening set, the Gaels committed just seven the rest of the way, improving their attack percentage significantly.
Markus Trence (Orangeville, Ont.) led the way for the Gaels with 20 kills while picking up seven digs.
Zac Hutcheson (Kingston, Ont.) had a strong game from the service line for Queen's with seven aces while also rounding out the stat sheet with eight kills, seven digs and three blocks.
After dropping the first set the Gaels took two straight handedly before losing a tight fourth set 25-22. In the fifth and deciding frame Queen's jumped ahead and took control on their way to a 15-11 set win to secure the match 3-2.
