HAMILTON (March 4, 2017) - The Queen's Gaels saw their season come to an end falling in their OUA quarter-final to the No.3 McMaster Marauders 3-0 with set scores 25-15, 25-19 and 25-21.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels knew they were in for a tough test heading to visit the No.3 Marauders who went the entirety of the OUA season without losing a match. The opening set saw the Marauders stretch out to an 10-6 lead to open the set. From there, a pair of Marauder errors and two kills from
Zac Hutcheson (Kingston, Ont.) pushed the Gaels on a 4-1 run to get to within a point of the home team.
The Marauders hit their stride from there and put together a pair of five-point streaks. They closed out the opening set off an attack error by the Gaels 25-15.
In the second frame, the Gaels were once again keeping pace with McMaster early.
Jamie Wright (Kingston, Ont.) put a set up for Hutcheson who finished with a kill to make it just 9-8 McMaster.
The Marauders once again caught fire with six straight points and finished off the Gaels 25-19.
From there, the home side once again proved why they went undefeated through the OUA season, finishing off the Gaels 25-21 to advance to the OUA Final Four as hosts.
