KINGSTON, Ont. (November 4, 2017) - The Queen's Gaels (3-0) were victorious at home, against the Brock Badgers, on the second night of a back-to-back with a big 80-38 victory at the Athletics and Recreation Centre.

GAME FLOW
Coming off an impressive comeback victory over McMaster, the Gaels looks to replicate their success against another undefeated team in Brock.
The game opened with a pull-up jump shot by
Andrea Priamo (Guelph, Ont.), followed up by a block by
Abby Dixon (North Vancouver, B.C.). Dixon came right back with a pair of assists, feeding both
Veronika Lavergne (Ottawa) and
Marianne Alarie (Sudbury, Ont.). Brock was held scoreless, through the first few minutes of the game. The Gaels defence shined, cleaning up the boards and not allowing easy shots. The Badgers were looking like they were gathering momentum, scoring off a layup and getting a quick block on the other end, but the Gaels proved to be resilient. Lavergne was doing the dirty work in the paint, racking up seven rebounds in the opening quarter, which led to the Gaels scoring seven second-chance points. With two more free-throws by Dixon, the Gaels ended the 1st quarter leading 22-7.
Alarie started off the 2nd quarter with a jumper and a three-ball to add five more to their lead. Both teams looked stagnant, until a steal by Alarie, amounted to an and-one opportunity for Priamo. Brock could not find ample opportunity to score, as the Gaels were quick to get back in transition and clean up the boards.
Michelle Istead (Ottawa) got a big steal late in the 2nd, which turned into a made jump shot for her. The Gaels ended the first half looking as strong as ever, leading 39-15.
Brock came into the 2nd half looking flat, while Queen's remained dominant on offence. Priamo and Lavergne could easily get into the paint, which led to easy scoring chances. Brock managed to steal the ball twice, but nothing came of those turnovers. Queen's did not lay off the intensity despite leading by 30.Â
Maddie Morris (Elgin, Ont.) did her part on the boards, and scored a nice second-chance basket, late into the 3rd. Queen's finished the 3rd quarter leading 65-27.
All hope seemed lost for the Badgers entering the 4th, down 38. Both teams came out relatively slow, but Dixon continued to show her court vision. She finished the night with 10 assists. The Gaels continued to demonstrate their tough defence, not letting the Badgers amass any type of run. Emma Rictey (Orillia, Ont.) sunk her first 3-pointer on the night and added two more free-throws scoring five points in the 4th.
The final score of the game saw Queen's take it 80-38.
