LONDON, Ont. (November 12, 2017) – The No.10 Queen's Gaels (6-2-0-1) defeated the Western Mustangs (4-1-2-1) 4-0 on Sunday afternoon behind a strong goaltending performance from
Stephanie Pascal (Sudbury, Ont.). Pascal picked up her second shutout of the season in the win, recording 29 saves.
GAME FLOW
The first period was an all-out attack by the Gaels as they peppered Mustangs goalie Carmen Lasis with 19 shots, while Pascal faced just three shots. Despite heavily outshooting Western,
Hailey Wilson (Pickering, Ont.) was the only Gael who was able to beat Lasis, when she opened the scoring at 15:56 of the period.
Queen's was able to extend their lead in the second frame when
Katrina Manoukarakis (Scarborough, Ont.) scored her team leading sixth goal of the season at 8:38.
Addi Halladay (North Augusta, Ont.) also scored to stretch the Gaels lead to 3-0. Pascal was solid in the period as she turned aside all 12 of the Mustangs shot attempts.
The Mustangs put 14 shots towards Pascal in the third period but she stood tall in keeping them off the scoreboard.
Emily Gervais closed out the scoring for the Gaels at 15:31 of the third period, making the final score 4-0.
Pascal picked up her OUA leading sixth win of the season while Lasis was charged with the loss in net for the Mustangs.
