TORONTO (October 25, 2017) – The Queen's Gaels suffered a tough 2-0 loss against the Ryerson Rams ending their 2017 season in the OUA playoffs.
GAME FLOW
The Queen's men played a hard-fought game, but unfortunately started the game off with a defensive break down. In the 3
rd minute of the first half, the Ryerson Rams found the back of the net, taking an early 1-0 lead. The Tricolour maintained a strong defence for the rest of the game with great efforts from Kevin Mastri (Oakville, Ont.) and
Rory McParland (Halifax, N.S.).
Offensive attacks led by
Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa) brought up the intensity but the Gaels were unable to surpass the Rams defence. In the 16
th minute of the game, Schroeter received the first and only yellow card for the Gaels.
In the second half the Tricolour maintained their intensity, keeping the pressure up on the Rams. Ryerson continued to send many shots on goal but
Alex Jones (Comox, B.C.) held strong and kept the Rams lead to only 1-0. The men continued to battle for possession of the ball but were unable to maintain control of the game.
In the 80
th minute of the game, the Gaels suffered another defensive break as the Rams upped their lead to 2-0. The Gaels maintained their defensive intensity for the rest of the game but were unable to catch the lead made by the Rams.
