ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (October 21, 2017) – The Queen's Gaels (2-0-0) used a third period push to outlast the Brock Badgers (0-1-0) 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Gaels heavily outshot the Badgers from the second period onward en route to the shutout victory.
GAME FLOW
The first period saw limited action, as both teams battled hard trying to score the game's first goal. The teams would head into the first intermission tied 0-0. The shots on goal were also even with both sides registering seven shots a piece.
Queen's outplayed Brock in the second, outshooting the Badgers 14-7 in the period. The Gaels were still unable to break through as the game would enter the third period scoreless.
The Gaels were finally able to beat Badgers goaltender Jensen Murphy in the third period as
Katrina Manoukarakis (Scarborough, Ont.) scored her first goal of the season at 7:12. They were able to strike again just 38 seconds later as
Kaylie Dennis (London, Ont.) potted her second of the season from
Addi Halladay (North Augusta, Ont.).
Queen's would hold on from there and take the 2-0 road victory.
Stephanie Pascal (Sudbury, Ont.) picked up the win in net with 22 saves while Murphy would register 35 saves in the loss for the Badgers.
