TORONTO (January 28, 2017) - The Queen's Gaels (5-8) visited the No.2 Toronto Varsity Blues (11-0) on Saturday night in women's volleyball action at the Goldring Centre in Toronto. The Gaels put together a quick start but were unable to keep pace throughout the match with the undefeated Toronto team. The Varsity Blues won 3-0 with set scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-12.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels got off to a strong start against Toronto keeping the set close through to the technical timeout. Toronto proved to be too much from there as 11 errors aided the Varsity Blues in the 25-17 opening set win. The Gaels struggled with their attack against Toronto all evening finishing with just 20 kills while committing 26 attacking errors.
Toronto took advantage of the Gaels 10 attack errors in the second set as well despite only a 0.108 kill percentage of their own. Queen's rallied near the end of the set but Toronto closed it out after strong play from Alina Dormann who finished with a match-high of 10 kills on the night.
The undefeated Varsity Blues closed out the match in the final set committing just two errors and finishing with 13 kills taking the set 25-12.
Victoria Wensley (Coquitlam, B.C.) led the Gaels with six kills while also adding nine digs and two blocks.
Sierra Hardy (Oakville, Ont.) served up one ace and tallied 18 assists in the loss.

The Gaels will look to bounce back next Friday when they visit the Trent Excalibur in Peterborough, Ontario. The game is set for a 6pm start and will be the only match of the weekend for Queen's.
