Gaels fall to No. 8 Badgers 77-63

ST CATHARINES, Ont. (January 20, 2017)- The Queen's Gaels men's basketball team dropped their fourth consecutive regular season match 77-63 to the U SPORTS No. 8 ranked Brock Badgers on Friday evening.

GAME FLOW
Russell Winters (Long Island, N.Y.) tallied a team-high 16 points for the Gaels, while Jesse Graham (Kingston, Ont.) added 10 points and six rebounds in a losing cause. His brother Tanner picked up nine points and six rebounds for the Gaels, who lost despite shooting a solid 45.1% from the field.

Tyler Brown picked up a game-best 17 points for the Badgers, who were not as efficient as the Gaels but won the rebounding battle 53-29 en route to their second-straight victory while maintaining an unblemished 4-0 home record.

After going down by two heading into the second quarter, Queen's surrendered 25 points in the second quarter, and faced a double-digit deficit heading into halftime. The men cut the lead to under 10 by the end of the third, and got to within seven midway through the final period before the Badgers rebounded to come away with the victory.

16- Winters picked up a season-high 16 points on Friday evening
29- The men's 29 rebounds matches a season low, they also tallied 29 rebounds in their season-opener against York on November 11
8- Sukhpreet Singh tallied eight points, which represents the first time this season the team's leading scorer did not pick up double-digits in points

UP NEXT
The Gaels will head to McMaster to take on the Marauders Saturday evening. The men return to the ARC next weekend to host Nipissing and Laurentian.
