MONTREAL - The Queen's Gaels women's hockey team takes on No.6 McGill and the No.3 Saint Mary's Huskies in the Martlett Invitational January 1 and 2.

DAY 2: Queen's 0, Saint Mary's 3

The Gaels closed out the Martlett Invitational with a 3-0 loss to the No.3 nationally ranked St. Mary's Huskies.

Siobhan Birch led the attack for the Huskies with two goals and one assist, scoring in the first and second periods. Claire Warren (Halifax) was between the pipes for the Gaels stopping 33 of the 36 shots she faced while Rebecca Clark picked up the win for Saint Mary's stopping all 19 shots faced.

The Gaels start up the 2017 portion of the OUA schedule on Friday when they visit the No.7 nationally ranked Nipissing Lakers at 4:30 pm.

DAY 1: Queen's 0, McGill 5

The Gaels took on the host Martletts on January 1 falling 5-0 to the No.6 ranked team in the nation.

Olivia Atkinson scored twice in the opening period to give the Martletts and early lead. After a scoreless second, the hosts tallied three more times, including once while shorthanded, to take the 5-0 victory.

Stephanie Pascal (Sudbury, Ont.) stopped 33 of 38 shots faced while Tricia Deguire stopped 20 shots for the shutout.
