WOMEN'S SOCCER
RECORD: 3-1 Last time out: W 4-0 @ Trent STREAK: Won 1
WHO'S HOT?: Rachel Radu - Hattrick in 4-0 win against Trent.

The women's soccer team plays at No.2 Ottawa (5-0) Friday night before getting their first taste of action in Richardson Stadium on Sunday at 1pm against Carleton (3-1-1).

Queen's suffered their first loss of the 2016 season last weekend in a 1-0 contest at No.9 UOIT, before rebounding against Trent with a 4-0 win. Rachel Radu (Ottawa) came up with a hattrick in the victory, while keeper Madison Tyrell made nine saves in the loss. With her three goals last weekend, Radu takes over as the Gaels leading scorer with four on the season.

In 2015, the Gaels tied the Gee-Gees in both matchups, first 0-0, then 1-1. Ottawa sits atop the OUA East standings again this year with a perfect 5-0 record. Last weekend, the Gee-Gees beat Ryerson 2-0 and Toronto 2-1 in a pair of home games. Faythe Lou has more goals than any of her Ottawa teammates, and picked up her fourth goal of the season against Ryerson. Keeper Julie-Anne Lamarche is among the best in the OUA, having allowed only two goals on 23 shots.

When Queen's and Carleton faced off last year, the Ravens won in August before the teams tied in October. Carleton sits just ahead of the Gaels in the OUA East standings with a 3-1-1 record. The Ravens are coming off a pair of clean sheet victories over Toronto and Ryerson, with Emily Copeland dinan and Nicole Filipow combining for two goals each last weekend.

MEN'S SOCCER
RECORD: 3-0-1 Last time out: W 4-2 vs. Laurentian STREAK: Tied 1
WHO'S HOT?: Julian Gailiunas - The rookie scored his first 2 CIS goals last weekend

The men's soccer team plays a mid-week at RMC (0-4) Wednesday night before playing on the turf at the revitalized Richardson Stadium for the first time on Sunday at 3:15pm against Carleton (2-1-1).

Four games into the season, the Gaels continue to be unbeaten after picking up a 3-1 win at UOIT and a 1-1 tie at Trent last weekend. Julian Gailiunas (North Vancouver, B.C.) scored the first goal of his CIS career in stoppage time of the UOIT game, and doubled his season total with the Gaels only goal against Trent.

Queen's Kingston rivals, the RMC Paladins fell to the Gaels in both of their 2015 matchups. This season, RMC is winless through four games heading into the midweek clash. Graeme Curran, a third year defender, has the Paladins only goal of 2016, which was scored in a 3-1 loss to UOIT last weekend.

Carleton and Queen's were dead even last year, finishing both of their meetings in 1-1 ties. The Ravens are looking to get back in the win column after drawing with Toronto and losing to Ryerson last weekend. Forward Mekonen Lovemore-White picked up his second goal of the season in the 1-1 tie with Toronto.

Toronto is coming off an 81-0 loss to No.1 McMaster, and are still looking for their first score of the season. In 2015, the Gaels put up a 106-3 victory over the Varsity Blues.

Last weekend, the Gaels had a 10 game winning streak snapped at Guelph. The Gryphons also beat Queen's in the 2015 season opener, before the Gaels won nine straight games to a fourth consecutive OUA Championship. Kainoa Lloyd picked up his fifth try of the season in the loss.

Laurier has two road wins to start the 2016 season and sits at the top of the OUA standings with 10 points from their two victories. Last weekend, the Golden Hawks took a one point lead into halftime against Waterloo before scoring 19 straight points in the second half to secure the win.
