Gaels sweep RMC, rematch set for Saturday at Queen's ARC

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 19, 2016) – The Gaels (11-7) put away the RMC Paladins (1-17) in three straight sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-15) this Friday night.

Chalking up 11 kills off a 0.290 as well as adding 16 digs and a serving ace, Shannon Neville (Cambridge, Ont.) led the Gaels in their win against their cross town opponents. Caroline Livingston (Kelowna, B.C.) had a strong showing for the Gaels with her eight kills and 14 digs.

For the Paladins, Kara Stephan had a big night as she contributed 10 kills, 19 digs and three serving aces. Mireille Musca and Delanie Chang both added 12 digs in the match while Musca also smacked down seven kills.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels were in control from the tip off, dropping only two errors in the first set and scoring it 25-19 to grab the 1-0 advantage over the Paladins. In the second RMC picked up their offence and pushed the Gaels back on their heels a bit. Queen's still managed to stay in the lead despite the increased pressure of their opponents and went up 2-0 off the 25-22 set win.

In the final frame the Gaels dug in their heels and increased their efficiency as they forced the Paladins into a negative percentage. The visitors finished off the three set win with a 25-15 score in the third and final set over RMC.

The Gaels will try to go two-for-two tomorrow night when they host the Paladins tomorrow at 6:00 pm in their final game of their OUA regular season before the playoffs.
