KINGSTON, Ont. (November 25, 2016) – The No. 8 Queen's Gaels (10-4-1) were defeated 6-3 Friday night by the Ottawa Gee-Gee's (6-6-2) at the Memorial Centre.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels had the momentum in the first period, including two power-play opportunities, but were unable to get on the scoreboard. The Gee-Gee's responded, opening the scoring in the second half of the period. Kevin Domingue scored on a quick short side snapshot. Marc Beckstead and Jacob Harris assisted on the play to give Ottawa a 1-0 lead at the end of the period.

The second period displayed action at both ends of the rink. One minute into the period, the Gee-Gee's took a 2-0 lead after John Deacon batted the puck out of the air to score. The Gaels then responded soon after when
Ryan Bloom (Calgary, Alta.) scored a shorthanded breakaway goal to cut the lead to 2-1.
Nevin Guy (Mountain, Ont.) and
Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.) assisted on the play. Before the end of the period, Ottawa pulled ahead with a 3-1 lead. Marc Beckstead scored after tipping in a pass from Domingue. Matthew Dunlop picked up the third assist.

In the third, Queen's opened the scoring when Cody Genovese (Hespeler, Ont.) scored for the Gaels on a wrister from the point.
Eric Margo (North Vancouver, B.C.) and
Jake Clements (Toronto, Ont.) assisted on the play that cut the Gee-Gee's lead to 3-2. Adam Beveridge then scored for Ottawa to give the visitors back their two goal lead at 4-2. Brendan Jacome assisted. The Gaels pulled within one again, after
Warren Steele (Williamsburg, Ont.) scored on a pass from
Eric Margo (North Vancouver, B.C.). However, the Gee-Gees then picked up two back-to-back goals to take a 6-3 final. Jacob Hanlon and Michael Poirer scored the final goals of the game.
