MEN'S HOCKEY AT HOME
No.8 Queen's is at home this weekend to play Ottawa on Friday and No.5 McGill on Saturday. Both games are set for 7:30pm at the Memorial Centre.

The Gaels ran into tough competition last week on a Quebec road-trip, losing 5-2 to UQTR before holding off Concordia in a 2-1 win. Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.) had the game-winner against the Stingers, and added a goal and an assist in the game against UQTR.  Eric Ming (Williamstown, Ont.) scored the Gaels other goal against UQTR and assisted on Doggett's goal against Concordia.

Ottawa went to double-overtime on both games last weekend, beating Brock 4-3 and losing 3-2 to York. Kevin Domingue scored his third game-winning goal of the year with 21 seconds left in the second overtime period against the Badgers, and leads the Gee-Gees with six goals this season. Going into Friday night's game at 5-6-2, Ottawa has half as many wins this year as the Gaels, who have a 10-3-1 record. The Gee-Gees were doubled up 4-2 when they visited Kingston in their second game of the season.

McGill squeaked by York in a 3-2 overtime win before thumping Brock 6-1. Dominic Talbot-Tassi moved into fourth in OUA scoring and second in OUA assists after a six-point weekend. Talbot-Tassi had an assist and the overtime winner against York as well as the game-winner and three assists against Brock. Saturday marks the first time in 2016-17 longtime rivals Queen's and McGill will go head-to-head. The Gaels will be looking for their first win over the Redmen since 2004, with the last 31 meetings going to the team from Montreal.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY AT TORONTO
Queen's is away for their final game of 2016, playing Toronto at 3pm on Sunday.

The Gaels are fresh off a thrilling 3-2 overtime win against Windsor in their only game last weekend. Addi Halladay (North Augusta, Ont.) earned the first two goals of the game to keep Queen's level, and assisted on the overtime-winner for her sixth point in the last two games. Clare McKellar (London, Ont.) was the Gael on the receiving end of Halladay's breakout pass, flying through the neutral zone on a partial break before slipping the puck through the five-hole as she was taken to the ice, winning the game for Queen's.

The Varsity Blues were also winners of their only game last weekend, easily getting by Laurier in a 6-1 decision. Taylor Day doubled her season point totals with a career-high five points last Friday night, scoring two power-play goals in addition to three assists. The OUA's top power-play unit scored four times for Toronto last weekend, improving their power-play percentage to 21.1%. When the Varsity Blues were in Kingston earlier this season, Queen's came out on top 3-0 thanks to another two-goal performance from Halladay.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL IN THUNDER BAY
The No.6 Gaels basketball team hits the road to play Lakehead on Friday at 6pm.

Queen's is undefeated through four games this season, beating Laurier and Waterloo last weekend in their home opener. Gaels leading scorer Marianne Alarie (Sudbury, Ont.) netted a career-high 22 point as the tricolour handed Laurier their first loss of the season, 84-78. Robyn Pearson (Toronto) contributed a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Andrea Priamo (Guelph, Ont.) recorded 10 points in each game, and also recorded a double-double against Laurier with 10 rebounds. Veronika Lavergne (Kingston, Ont.) was a point and a rebound away from a double-double in Queen's 93-63 stomping of Waterloo. The Gaels are averaging an OUA-best 81.3 points per game.

Lakehead has lost four straight games after beating Algoma to start the year. Last weekend, the Thunderwolves fell 76-71 to Western and suffered their worst defeat of the season to No.5 Windsor, 74-62. Nikki Ylagan is Lakehead's leading scorer after scoring 18 against Western and 21 against Windsor. Bridget O'Reilly had the second-most points for Lakehead in both games, with 17 against Western and 11 against Windsor. MEN'S BASKETBALL AT LAKEHEAD
The men's basketball team is in Thunder Bay this weekend for a single game against Lakehead on Friday at 8pm.

The Gaels earned a pair of wins last weekend at their home opener, beating Laurier 80-68 and Waterloo 78-59. Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) had a standout weekend for the tricolour with 15 and 16 point-performances. With five blocks in each game, Graham moved to first in OUA blocks with 11 on the season. A monstrous 16 rebounds against Waterloo gave Graham a double-double and helped keep him third in OUA rebounds per game, averaging 11.0. Sukhpreet Singh (Toronto) and Isse Ibrahim (Toronto) matched each other in scoring both nights to provide offensive support, netting 15 points each against Laurier and 12 points each against Waterloo.

Lakehead comes into this weekend with just one win, which they earned in their season opener against Algoma. Last weekend, the Thunderwolves lost a nail-biter to Western 53-51 before Windsor handed them an 83-69 loss. Bacarius Dinkins is Lakehead's leading scorer this season, putting up 10 and 16 points, respectively. Dinkins is also the OUA's leading rebounder at 12.2 boards per game, and joins Graham of the Gaels as one of six players averaging a double-double in the conference. Mor Menashe is first in OUA assists this year with 26, while Henry Tan is tied for sixth.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ON THE ROAD
Queen's plays a pair of games this weekend, starting with York on Saturday at noon, followed by another 12pm matchup on Sunday in North Bay against Nipissing.

The Gaels earned a hard-fought win last weekend in a 3-2 match at Guelph after having lost 3-1 Waterloo. Caroline Livingston (Kelowna, B.C.) continued her stellar season, sitting first in OUA kills after earning a total of 30 over the weekend. In the tricolour victory over Guelph, Livingston set a new career-high in points with 24, earning 20 kills, two aces, and two solo blocks. Isabelle Korchinski (Anmore, B.C.) is moving up the leader chart in the digs category, tying a career-high from the previous game with 17 against Waterloo and following up with 16 digs against Guelph. After a great defensive weekend, Korchinski is fifth in OUA digs, while also sitting ninth in OUA kills. Rookie setter Nicola Ros (North Vancouver) is also putting together a great season for Queen's and is fifth in OUA assists after a new high of 45 last weekend.

York and Queen's are tied in the standings with three wins each after the Lions took down Trent 3-1 last weekend. Celeste Witzell moved into second in team kills after a season-high 11 against Trent, while the team's top killer, Melissa Monkhouse had eight. Sarah Williams had a team-high 13 digs in the win, while York's best defender on the season, Carley Flemmer, made 10 digs.

Nipissing had last weekend off, and will be looking to get back in the win column after losing in straight sets at both Ryerson and No.2 Toronto two weeks ago. Tracy Hammerton is the team leader in kills with 35 this season, while Christina Caruso and Hammerton both have 49 digs to lead the Lakers. Stephanie Armstrong is the starting setter for Nipissing and has produced 89 assists so far this season. At 2-3, all five matches for the Lakers have only required three sets.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYS AWAY
The Gaels are on the road for the second straight week, playing at York on Saturday and Nipissing Sunday, with both games set for 2pm.

Queen's had a four-game winning streak snapped last weekend at No.10 Guelph in a thrilling five-set match. The Gaels also played five sets against Waterloo, winning 3-2. Markus Trence (Orangeville, Ont.) continues to lead the league with 124 kills, setting a new career-high of 23 against Guelph. Jamie Wright (Kingston, Ont.) is atop the OUA assists chart after a combined 103 assists from last weekend, including 54 against Waterloo. Wright's average of 10.31 assists per set is the best in the league by a comfortable margin, with second place sitting at 9.47. With a couple games in hand on some of their competitors, Zac Hutcheson (Kingston, Ont.), Trence, Joel Rudd (Cambridge, Ont.), and Lukas Kaufman (Stratford, Ont.) sit first through fourth in total OUA digs this season.

York will be riding a three-game winning into Saturday's matchup with the Gaels after beating Trent 3-0 last weekend. As a team, the Lions committed only six attacking errors and had an impressive .436 kill percentage. York also earned 14 total blocks in the match, led by Spencer Dakin Kuiper with four. The team also picked up eight aces through three sets of work. Spencer Kingzett has the most kills on the team, while Alex Duncan-Thibault is first in the OUA in kill percentage at .569 and blocks per set at 1.36.

Nipissing suffered their first loss of the season last weekend to Toronto after blanking Ryerson the night before. Steven Wood is the go-to guy for the Lakers, as he has attempted nearly double the number of attacks compared to the next highest teammate. The third-year outside hitter is fifth in the league with 4.0 kills per set and 4.5 points per set. With just 30 digs this season, Mike Ballagh is first in the OUA digs per set stat at 2.73. Helping out Ballagh's numbers is the fact that all four of Nipissing's matches have had 3-0 scores.
