McKellar's OT winner sends Queen's past Windsor

KINGSTON, Ont. (November 19, 2016) - The Queen's Gaels (4-1-6-0) defeated the Windsor Lancers (4-0-5-2) 3-2 in overtime Saturday night at the Memorial Centre thanks to a goal from Clare McKellar (London, Ont.).

GAME FLOW
In the first period, the Gaels had majority of the scoring opportunities, out-shooting the Lancers 10-6. In spite of a number of close chances, the period remained scoreless.

In the second period, the Lancers were first to get on the board when Ashley Maitre scored for Windsor on a rebound. Krystin Lawrence and Shawna Lesperance assisted on the play. On the next play, Queen's responded. Addi Halladay (North Augusta, Ont.) scored a beautiful goal off the following faceoff at centre ice. Katrina Manoukarakis (Scarborough, Ont.) assisted on the play by winning the faceoff. Both goals were scored four-on-four. Several minutes after Queen's tied the game 1-1, the Lancers once again took the lead. Erin Noseworthy scored on a backhand shot to give the Lancers a 2-1 lead. Kennedy Snively assisted on the goal. The Lancers had a 2-1 advantage at the end of the period.

In the third period, Halladay found the back of the net for her second of the game on a perfectly placed snapshot to draw even again at 2-2. Mckellar and Bryce Desa (London, Ont.) assisted on the play. Before the end of the period, the Gaels successfully killed off a penalty to force the game into overtime.

Two minutes into overtime, McKellar scored for Queen's on an end-to-end rush to win the game. Halladay and Devon Greenough (Arnprior, Ont.) assisted on the game-winner as the tricolour got by the Lancers 3-2.
