TORONTO (November 25, 2016) - Playing in their last game of the 2016 portion of their OUA schedule the Gaels (5-1-6-0) were able to escape Toronto (5-1-5-0) with a 3-1 victory over the Varsity Blues.
GAME FLOW
It didn't take the Gaels long to get the jump on the home Varsity Blues as
Megan Farrell (Barrie, Ont.) broke down the right wing on a two-on-one for the Gaels and elected to shoot on the short side beating the Varsity Blue netminder Hailey Farrelly to put the Gaels up 1-0 1:01 into the game.
Queen's managed to strike again just 4:26 seconds later.
Kaylie Dennis (London, Ont.) jumped on a rebound in front of Farrelly and put in in the back of the net picking up her first goal of her career.
Amber Sealey (Elora, Ont.) picked up the lone assist on the goal and the Gaels were out in front 2-0.
After a scoreless second period, the Varsity Blues were finally able to solve Gaels starting goaltenderÂ
Stephanie Pascal (Sudbury, Ont.) in the third. Julia Szulewska scored her fourth goal of the season for Toronto cutting the Gaels lead to just one with 1:37 left.
With the Toronto net empty
Nadia Larocca (Mississauga, Ont.) sealed the win for the Gaels with an empty netter, her fourth of the season.
Pascal finished with a strong performance between the pipes for the Gaels stopping 30 of 31 shots faced for the win.
