KINGSTON, Ont. (November 12, 2016) - The Gaels (2-3) fell 3-1 to an undefeated Western Mustangs (5-0) team in a matchup of the top hitters in the conference at the ARC on Saturday night, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-19.
Caroline Livingston (Kelowna, B.C.) from Queen's and Kelsey Veltman from Western have the top two kill totals in the OUA.

GAME FLOW
Queen's led a close first set through the technical timeout and up until the Mustangs took the lead at 22-21. Western didn't look back, taking the opening set 25-22. Highlights for the Gaels included a great defensive play from Livingston, hustling back to keep an errant pass in play. Queen's got a point on the play after a solid block.

The Gaels came out stronger in the second set, jumping out to a 4-0 lead early. Queen's led by as much as six at 15-9, but Western came back to make it 23-22. The tricolour sealed the set victory 25-23 to tie the match 1-1.

Western started to look like an undefeated team in the third set, leading from start to finish. After the technical timeout, Queen's got to within one at 16-15, but the Mustangs cruised from there to a 25-19 win.

The tricolour couldn't force a fifth set, as Western closed out the match with another 25-19 win in the fourth.
Livingston finished with a game-high 20 kills to bring her season total to 77, which is second best in the OUA only to Veltman, whose 17 kills put her at 78 for the year.
Victoria Wensley (Coquitlam, B.C.) provided offensive support for Queen's with 13 kills. On defence,
Isabelle Korchinski (Anmore, B.C.) had a game-high 17 digs, followed by Wensley with 16 and Livingston with 10.
