Pascal's second straight shutout leads Gaels to 2-0 win at Golden Hawks

WATERLOO, Ont. (October 21, 2016) – The Queen's Gaels (2-0-1-0) defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks (0-0-1-1) 2-0 Friday night in Waterloo behind a 31 save Performance from Stephanie Pascal (Sudbury, Ont.).

GAME FLOW
The game saw even action, with both teams registering 31 shots on net. However, it was the Gaels who capitalized.

In the first period, Addi Halladay (North Augusta, Ont.) opened the scoring in the first minute, on an unassisted goal. Halladay was the benefactor of some misfortune from the Golden Hawks who deflected the puck into their own goal. This allowed the Gaels to take a 1-0 lead at the end of the period.

After a number of close chances, the second period remained scoreless behind an 11 save period from Pascal. In the third, the Gaels extended the lead to 2-0, after Emily Jukosky (Stirling, Ont.) scored early in the period. Megan Farrell (Barrie, Ont.) and Katrina Manoukarakis (Scarborough, Ont.) picked up assists on the play.

This proved to be the final score in the game, allowing the Gaels to take a 2-0 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks.

In net, Pascal was once again exceptional for the Gaels, making 31 saves, to shutout the Golden Hawks. Pascal has now gone 138:28 without allowing a goal this season and has stopped all 69 shots she has faced. Amanda Smith stopped 29 shots for Laurier in a losing effort.
