SUDBURY, Ont. (October 21, 2016) – The Queen's Gaels (2-1-1) won 3-0 against the Laurentian Voyageurs (1-3-1) Friday night at Country Side Arena in Sudbury thanks to a stellar performance from netminder

GAME FLOW
In the first,
Ryan Bloom (Calgary, Alta) opened the scoring, nearing the halfway mark in the period.
Eric Ming (Williamstown, Ont.) and
Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.) were credited with assists on the goal after Doggett found Ming who rifled a shot that kicked out off of the pad of the Voyageur netminder right to a wide open Bloom. Queen's skated to the intermission with a 1-0 lead.
In the second period,
Patrick Downe (New Maryland, N.B.) extended the Gaels lead to 2-0.
Harrison Hendrix (Calgary, Alta.) picked up an assist on the play as Downe threw a point shot towards the net that deflected off a Laurentian player before finding the back of the goal. After several close chances in the final frame, the Gaels hung on to blank the Voyageurs.
Eric Ming (Williamstown, Ont.) picked up an empty net goal in the final minutes of the third bringing the final score to 3-0.
The Gaels displayed solid defence and goaltending throughout the game, keeping the Voyageurs off the scoreboard. Gaels goaltender Bailie had an outstanding game, stopping all 44 shots on goal that he faced.
