TORONTO, Ont. (Oct. 8, 2016) – Queen's Field Hockey split their two games on Thanksgiving weekend.
Â
Won 1 – 0 vs Western
Queen's field hockey had a great first game this weekend against Western University. Third year forward,
Ciara Morrison, had an exceptional game and scored the only goal against the Mustangs in the first half. Continuing to apply pressure on Western's defence, the Gaels were unable to score another goal but ended the game with their second win of the season. Â Â
Â
Lost 2 – 0 vs York
On the second day the Gaels took on York, the 3rd ranked team in the OUA's. In the first half, Queen's played aggressively and kept the game at 0 – 0. Queen's second year goalie
Clara Gatien saved 4 short corner plays and 8 shots for the Gael's. In the second half, York's offence stepped up their game and had 10 short corners and 14 shots. Unfortunately, by the end of the game York was able to score 2 goals.       Â
