Singh sets new career-high with 39 points in 99-81 loss to No. 3 Ravens

OTTAWA (January 30, 2016) - The Queen's Gaels men's basketball team battled hard, but came up short against one of the top teams in the country on Saturday evening at the Ravens Nest, falling to the Carleton Ravens by a score of 99-81.

GAME FLOW
Sukhpreet Singh had a sensational game in a losing cause for the Gaels, dropping a career-high 39 points and shooting a formidable 14-of-26 from the field, working at an overall shooting percentage above 50%. The Toronto native was an impressive 11-of-12 from the free-throw line, and also picked up six rebounds, four assists, and two steals to round out his stat-line for the night.

Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) also hit the double-digit scoring mark, dropping 11 points which included three baskets from beyond the arc for the Gaels, who shot 40.6% as a team throughout the contest.

The men kept pace with Carleton through three and a half quarters of play, but ran out of gas against a seasoned Ravens squad that has dominated the CIS scene for most of the last decade, who then pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Carleton shot just under 50% as a team, but had their lead severely threatened throughout the third quarter of play against the Gaels, who dropped 38 in the third to pull within two points of the lead after Mark Paclibar (Minesing, Ont.) drained a three-pointer to end the quarter.

The defending CIS champions responded by going on a 14-2 run in the early stages of the fourth quarter, finishing the final period with a total of 30 points and running out the clock for the victory.

The Gaels (7-5) maintain second-place in the OUA East division behind the Ryerson Rams, who are currently the top-ranked team in the nation, while the CIS No. 3 ranked Ravens (10-2) remain second in the OUA North behind the No. 2 Ottawa Gee-Gees.
