TORONTO, Ont. (November 7, 2015) – The Gaels (2-3) swept the York Lions (2-2) in three straight sets this Saturday night.
GAME FLOW The Gaels took the first two sets easily with matching scores of 25-19. York grabbed the early lead in both cases, but Queen's quickly overtook them leading at the first and second set technical timeouts, maintaining them until the end of each set.
The Lions picked up their offense in the third set, keeping close behind the Gaels. Once again Queen's led at the technical timeout but York tied the score at 21-21, trying to slow their momentum. The Gaels put away the set 25-23 despite the increased York pressure.
Shannon Hopkins (North Vancouver) led the Gaels in their win smacking down 18 kills and grabbing 10 digs with 19.5 total points. On the York side of the action Cadence Currie led with eight kills and 13 digs.
